Life Transitions

There are so many times in your life where you transition from one phase of life to the next. From high school to college, from college to the "real world" or "working world," from being single to having a partner, from being kidless to having a baby, from having one baby to multiple, from having one job to the next, from having a healthy parent to an aging parent, from having a parent to losing a parent (and of course any order within these transitions). From marriage to divorce. And so many more. Life is full of transitions. They aren't easy. They are generally tough. And if you find you are in need of a helping hand through any one of these transitions, you are not alone.

Shouldn't I be able to do this on my own?

Going through times of transition is extremely tough. Sometimes you can do it on your own, and sometimes you need a guiding hand. It all depends on the situation at hand and your ability to cope with the current challenge.

Transitions happen every day.

Change is our only constant - so transitions happen all the time. Sure, maybe a transition is a welcomed opportunity but many times its riddled in shame and fear, possibly even grief and pain. Starting something new means saying goodbye to an old life, an old version of you. It's not always easy, and you don't have to do it alone.

Psychotherapy can help.

Psychotherapy isn't new, but more and more its becoming normalized. It's okay to seek help when you need it. That's why I'm here. I am here to get to the root of the issue and assist you along the way. Maybe your transition isn't even about a current change but you are in fact becoming triggered by a transition in the past. Let me help you settle this challenge and help you transition more smoothly, perhaps even with ease.

How do I know if I need help?

Are you feeling tension or tightness in your body? Perhaps even pain? Are you experiencing activation and emotion while thinking about your transition? Are you worried? Are you fearful? Are you overwhelmed? Seeking out help and assistance now, doesn't mean you will need help and assistance for forever. Sometimes you just need a little help getting over the hump.

I love college.

But holy moly is it a big life transition! So are your 20's in general! Shaina has served the young adult community at Central Florida Hillel as their in-house therapist. Shaina knows this is a huge transition while you navigate your early adulthood. Shaina gets it. She is here for you.
